Where It All Started
Our acclaimed 2016 retail project in Shoreditch, East London.
Following our formation, one of our earliest projects was assisting Mast Brothers in launching their UK flagship store. The challenge? A fast-tracked delivery to meet a fixed opening day—Valentine’s Day.
Ambitious, yet achievable with the right methodology. From concept to completion, including planning consents, the project was delivered in under three months. The result: a contemporary, sleek design aligned with the brand’s identity, featuring a carefully zoned layout:
- Exhibition & display area fronting the public realm
- Main retail shopfloor as the core commercial space
- Back-of-house manufacturing zone for production
- Rear packaging & sorting area with ancillary functions

Our vision reimagines a former bottling plant—repurposing disused industrial warehouses into a dynamic, multi-use community space. Our proposal outlines a complete transformation of the site, beginning with upgrades to the building’s primary front elevations, followed by a full internal refurbishment.

The redeveloped space will offer a diverse range of community-focused amenities, including:

Leigh-on-Sea. Coastal Outhouse.
Leigh-On-Sea, Essex, UK
A stunning outhouse overlooking the sea.
A modern intervention in a historic coastal location.
Brass Architecture designed and delivered a garden outhouse in the grounds of a large residential property (Leigh-on-Sea, Essex), overlooking the historic coastal town of ‘Old Leigh’ and the seafront beyond.
Our design; a charred timber contemporary intervention, contrasting with the traditional host residential building in the immediate vicinity.
The outhouse contains lounge area, bar/kitchenette, WC, services zone, along with external log store.
Full external re-landscaping of the application site connects the outhouse with the main home.
'Nestled in nature', a wildflower roof finish blends the structure with surrounds during the summer months.

Brass Architecture was engaged to appraise and upgrade the existing studio space for renowned UK fashion and jewellery designer Katie Hillier. Located within the prestigious Rochelle School, Shoreditch, the brief called for a bold yet functional transformation—an inspiring environment where creativity could thrive.
A Thoughtful & Elegant Intervention
Our design approach was simple yet impactful:
- A feature storage & display wall along the perimeter, balancing aesthetics with functionality
- A new timber mezzanine to effectively zone the space, enhancing workflow and usability
A refined yet practical reinvention—where fashion, craftsmanship, and architecture seamlessly align.

How to sensitively incorporate a development in a dense urban location.
Brass Architecture have worked tirelessly to formulate optimal residential returns for a notable site located in West Hampstead, North London.
The existing ‘scrap of land’ is sandwiched between existing residential plots. Our new build insertion sits comfortably within this tight urban setting.
Proposed architectural language makes considerable reference to the street's character while ensuring the design is clean, modern and avoids pastiche.

This site in Beckenham, Bromley is in close proximity to the key transport hub, affording fast and direct access to Central London.
Our proposals; rejuvenate the existing building plot with upper level extensions, resulting in added units alongside a full makeover of the application site!

Many of our clients have an interest in air space development and change of use of assets. This project showcases both!

Re-imagining a Listed Asset.
A prominent site location in the heart of Central London.
Brass Architecture supplied inventive design schematics that showcase such an asset (listed, tight site location, insitu tenants) can be (a) upgraded; (b) extended; and (c) afford maximised returns on behalf of the owner end client.
Listed building applications accompanied planning submittals.
Many shy away from such challenges.
We are well versed at delivering complex projects where others have failed.

Hermitage Gate. Inventive Green Belt Works.

Achieving the Impossible?
A substantial development in the heart of the Green Belt.
The site, includes a listed historic former gatehouse (residential) building with associative structures set across a generous plot located in Harrow, North London.
The conundrum?
How can the site be developed as a family home with tough Green Belt restrictions in place?
Inventive thresholds between the old and the new, alongside carefully planned landscaping, softens the new built form, integrating our interventions within the wider street scene context.

Marsden Centre. Town Centre Rejuvenation Proposals.
Marsden, West Yorkshire, UK
Community Led Architecture.
Evaluating best use of valuable Levelling Up Funds.
Brass Architecture reviewed a prominent site in Marsden, West Yorkshire. Our works formulated in line with LPA directives and the award of Government Levelling Up Funds.
We challenge the objectives of provisional proposals (prepared by others); to demolish the historic treasured warehouse infrastructure, replaced with (in our opinion) uninspiring industrial work units.
We believe Marsden deserves better!

Luton. High Street Anchor Development.

Air space development and extensions of a tired high street building asset.
Re-imagining a key high street location.
The site of Park Street is in close proximity to the key transport hubs of Luton and fronts the town centre high street. Our proposal; to retain and improve the ground commercial use with the upper floors re-imagined for residential use (including rear and upper extensions). The change of use of upper floors (and substantial extension of the site) returns notable apartment unit numbers of varying sizes.
We have submitted and gained a range of consents that piece together to return an impressive anchor development. Revitalising the High Street!
