About Us

What We Do

Brass Architecture are a unique architecture and design practice delivering projects
across all sectors of the industry. From homeowners to international corporations;
our client list is diverse. As such, our portfolio is varied and rich.
We are not wedded to specific sectors, styles or locations.
We execute works across the UK and many International territories.

Whilst many design studios claim to offer a different offering - we prove it !
We invite any prospective customer or collaborator to meet us and witness our varied infrastructure,
delivery frameworks and design ethos. Many, in turn, quickly understand the unique offering on offer.
Put simply, our bespoke delivery infrastructure allows for voluminous uplifts for the end client; whilst
fast tracking the frustrating elongated work stages - that most clients identify as major frustrations on
their previous projects.

We keep it simple !
We improve the user experience for all involved parties. How? by simplifying matters. Our clients motives at the forefront of our works.

We challenge the status quo !
We have formulated unique delivery systems and bespoke IT infrastructure to afford improvements
across all project stages. Our processes are tried and tested and showcase vast improvements on
timeframes whilst improving overall accuracy and uplifted final returns.

Each given project has an allocated senior director !
We have witnessed others allocate junior members of a team to run a given project. We observe
this approach as flawed. We allocate senior team members, ensuring consistency from the outset
to completion.

A combination of rigorous design interrogation and construction logic underpins our work !
Clear material language and strategic place making ensures our works evoke a sense of familiarity
whilst being thought provoking. We work across core sectors such as residential, commercial and
workplace. We also execute works across wider, bespoke sectors such as cultural, installation and
religious architecture.

We create buildings, places and spaces that are well conceived !
Our well regarded commercial eye and hands on approach eliminates risks and provides each given
client a sense of security in the delivery of a given project.

Our Story

Brass Architecture are a unique multi-disciplinary architecture practice founded in
2016. We refer to ourselves as an emerging architectural studio.
We understand clients have a variety of service providers on offer.
We differentiate our services and processes (from our competitors) to showcase
'why' we are the right practice to trust to deliver on your behalf.

Our core aim, to deliver impactful and memorable architecture !
Hailing from the north of England, a trio of designers founded the practice (following many years
working for notable architects practices) in search of improving on tired and frustrating traditional
delivery channels.

Starting out with a number of ‘word of mouth’ commissions, our team has expanded to suit a growing
portfolio. Our early years focused on projects in and around the City of London.
As our portfolio has diversified, our works have expanded to wider UK territories and overseas locations.

We provide a refreshingly open, down-to-earth attitude to a complex craft !
Our head office is located in Aldgate East (Whitechapel), East London.
We have a sister office in West Yorkshire, serving northern UK locations.
We have a third office office in the South of France; allowing us to execute works across the EU &
beyond.

We are proud not to be wedded to architectural trends, styles, or sectors !
As such, our portfolio is diverse and rich.

We work across all sectors of the industry !
We do not believe 'specialism' in one given industry sector brings out the best of our skilled team.
We cannot abide the copy and paste delivery system (like-for-like projects) that others offer to the market.

We strive to create thought-provoking, relevant work that stands the test of time !
Our work spans both the public and private sectors. We are pleased to represent home-owners, leading developers and public body groups, among others. Each project, truly unique.

We are privileged to be shortlisted on a number of distinguished architectural frameworks.

Our Ethos:

>  Interactions not Transactions.
>  Establishing a Purpose.
>  Maximising a Site’s (or assets) True Potential.
>  Illustrating a Vision.
>  A One Stop Shop for all of our Clients.
>  Connections at the heart of all our works.

Our wide ranging portfolio has evolved over the years.

We have large works across the common architectural sectors such as residential, commercial and
workplace. Over recent years we have initiated works in specialist fields such as tech, fashion and media.
We strongly believe broadening of works into new fields allows us to grow as designers and become better technicians year-by-year.

We look forward to diversifying our works further over the coming years.

Executive Summary:

We are an ambitious studio with our works intentionally spread across all construction sectors.
We are not tied to specific work types, geographical locations or architectural styles.

We have developed unique IT infrastructure and a talented team to suit our objectives.
This allows us to offer bespoke services that improve returns, reduces timelines and ensures improved
cost and delivery accuracy.

We often ask ... how can the existing frameworks be improved? Our answer, offer unique delivery systems that change the status quo. We never rest on our laurels. We evolve year-by-year, project-by-project.

Brass Architecture's landmark schemes include notable projects consented in the heart of the Green Belt (achieving the impossible?), several redevelopment projects of old, tired assets (such as aged office buildings, dilapidated warehouses, former department stores, former cinemas, medieval architecture and
-the-like) plus remodelling schemes of prominent public realm locations (such as high streets and coastal town locations).

We are open to all manner of architectural projects and our work continues to gain recognition amongst
our peers. Urban, rural, coastal. XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL. We cover all scales and territories.

We do not advertise. We are often recommended by existing clientele, appointed via face-to-face
meetings or simply by reaching out. Please contact us regarding any project you have in mind.

From a humble garden studio to international master planning, we take on all manner of works.

Our Founders

Our team is led by three founding directors, each of whom have an excellent well-rounded CV of works –
with notable projects spanning the globe!

After meeting at university, our directors became friends, qualified, and embarked on their respective
careers in different locations. Each director specialising in varied architectural sectors (to one another).

Some years later, the three met up, discussed their ideas for an alternative service offering and the seeds
of a collaboration were sown.

Each director (drawing on specialisms across a multitude of architectural sectors), merged their past experience
with fresh ideas relating to Brass Architecture's portfolio of works. A design manifesto was born; how can we
provide services that disrupt the status quo? ... improving returns, services, output, fees ...

Our early projects were used as a test bed for our manifesto. The results impressive.
Our founding ideals remain in place; informing our project works to this day. The three founders are
descendants of craftsmen, engineers and educators; further informing the studio's approach and processes.

Our team is committed to making the built environment a better place; utilising our skill set to deliver
commercially minded, sensitive architectural interventions befitting of the given site location.

Impactful architecture to suit each clients needs.

Ricky Sellars

Founder
Principal Director

Ricky is the face of Brass Architecture and the point of contact for all existing (and new) clients.

Ricky has extensive experience working in international territories and notable completed projects
across all London Boroughs.

Ricky has a rich pool of contacts; expanding and contracting to suit our project needs.
Our collaborative works with others (our trusted partners) applicable across the majority of our
commissions.

Ricky's well-regarded commercial eye ensures all our designs remain affordable and deliverable
post approvals. He prides himself on being easily contactable.

Ricky has a keen interest in developing the skill set of our next generation of designers, aiding each
new team member’s progression from graduation to full qualification as a practising architect.

Ricky champions open debate across all of our office locations, inclusive of all staff members.
He has a dislike of hierarchical overruling of ideas. The best ideas are progressed – regardless of
whoever comes up with them!

John Paul Buckingham

Founder
Principal Director

John is the head of our design delivery teams, ensuring all our schemes are progressed and fully
coordinated from the outset; utilising a wide range of BIM technologies across all project stages.

He is a keen advocate that all projects are delivered in 3D, irrespective of scale and budget.
The logic, prepare and build the correct parametric modelling allowing for valued extracts
(data, visuals, take offs) and saving on future resources (technical design, specifications etc).

John splits his time between our London Office and in the EU (our french office location), where
he oversees the delivery of our widening international portfolio of projects.

Noted projects in the South of France include; the upgrade of medieval architecture, the change
of use of tired assets (such as farming infrastructure, barns, townhouses, and former abattoirs)
into impressive residential homes, vacation offerings and commercial enterprises (among others)
plus, new build schematics.

John has a strong background negotiating with LPA’s, ensuring our clients brief particulars are
met with the required backing of interested/ pertinent stakeholders.

Oliver Seddon

Founder
Principal Director

Oliver oversees all our projects that are active onsite, delivering schemes from the drawing board ...
to reality.

This includes the important marriage between architectural assets and desired interior design,
whilst keeping abreast of fellow consultant and stakeholder requirements; all bench marked
against procurement channels, programme of works milestones and desired target dates.

Collaboration with wider design team members is critical during site works.

Oliver has a contemporary design eye that is showcased across many our projects.

Design ideas are heavily influenced by his travels and active digestion of wider design disciplines.
Oliver spends his time ensuring all our projects are unique and eliminating any 'copy and paste'
architecture; a pet hate amongst our design team.

Oliver is skilled in installation and bespoke architectural offerings, delivering ‘one off’ schematics
for a broad church of clients (vacation operators, faith groups, leisure operators, fashion designers),
utilising an inventive eye to deliver a wide range of concepts.

Our Friends

We have a wide range of clients working across all industry sectors.
Our team are trusted to deliver 'any project type' and do not shy away from taking on 'difficult briefs'.

The diversity of our backgrounds and partnerships allows us to offer a unique, dedicated service delivered on
time and on budget!

Our Feedback

''Brass Architecture have carried out a number of project appraisals on behalf of Fortune Green Capital. They are a down to earth team of designers who we trust to deliver at speed and with a commercial eye. Commissions include feasibility appraisals, planning submissions for varied schemes and the delivery of design works to aid the sale of a site/ building asset. We have no hesitation recommending the services of Brass Architecture''.

Rob Soltanie, Director & Co-founder
Fortune Green Capital

“Brass Architecture have been working with me on my residential development for the last few years. This timing was driven by the complexity of owning a listed property in a designated Green Belt location in Harrow. I am based outside of the UK and the Brass team were able to fully manage the project through conference calls and emails. They were swift in responses and exceeded my expectations. Professionally I manage a real estate portfolio worth over GBP 5billion. The quality of the deliverables prepared by Ricky and the team for my residential property were exceptional and not dissimilar to applications I would expect for multi-million-pound development applications''.

Aasim Qureshi, Managing Director
QNB Capital [Qatari National Bank]

''Brass Architecture continue to work with Maurice Investments on several of our projects. We have instructed Brass’ to prepare schematics for central London locations, listed buildings, infill sites and out of town locations, amongst others. Brass’ are a trusted partner who are contactable at speed, provide pertinent feedback on request (in aiding our appraisals), and valuably, develop all schemes in 3D – allowing us to easily visualise proposed returns at all project stages’’.

Mark Wogman, Chairman
Maurice Investments

''Brass Architecture have represented CRC on several projects in recent years, including sites across London, surrounding counties, and wider UK locations. Brass’ are an approachable team who clearly storyboard project options and timelines from the outset for ease of appraisal. Brass’ have successfully gained consents on our behalf; correctly challenged and overturned refusals (appeals) and have a strong work ethic to deliver our goals. They continue to represent us; employing a strong commercial eye, injecting aesthetic flair, and utilising their strong networks to aid planning and key stakeholder negotiations''.

Isabel Engelbrecht, Senior
CRC London

''Brass Architecture have aided Rare Origins’ in the design and delivery of a notable site located in West Hampstead, London. The delivery of the project has been sensitive given site location (urban infill site), wider stakeholder involvement and lengthy planning consultation. Brass’ have led the scheme development at pace and utilised their inhouse BIM technologies to clearly indicate the visual development/ aesthetic options (for our appraisal) at key project junctures. The Brass team are easily contactable and immediately prioritise our works (given outside delivery requests) as and when required. Brass Architecture share our outlook with regards to providing meaningful, impactful developments– rather than generically working an asset for maximum commercial returns’’.

Edward Freeman, Managing Director
Rare Origins

''AVixual share a London office space with the Brass team, allowing for the cross fertilization of ideas across the studio. We have successfully delivered CGIs on numerous Brass’ projects and on behalf of their clients. The Brass team are a laid-back collective of designers who prioritise relationships and embrace collaboration. We have the confidence to table our ideas when working with Brass' - generating unique results that we are proud to showcase as part of our evolving portfolio’’.

Carlos Campo, Principal
AVixual

''The team at Brass are a talented group who I have worked with on many projects. The directors are more than architect designers. They have a real understanding of all stakeholders motives and an unrivaled commercial eye. Whether seeking to purchase a site, looking to future proof or add value to an existing asset or in need of an exit strategy (selling), the brass team deliver the required works to suit with ease and a valued sense of calm. I continue to work with the Brass team and have promoted their services to many over recent years ’’.

Alberto Gava, Managing Director

Our Thoughts

Great work stems from great people.

We are proud to have a high volume of repeat clients that tells us our processes work.

Others claim to offer an alternate representation model. We prove it!
We simply invite new contacts to meet with us and witness how and why our alternative representation model improves upon existing delivery frameworks.

Our work stems from the why?
Our clients’ objectives are at the forefront of our thinking from conception to completion.

Our umbrella framework of consultants and contractors ensures our clients save on time and overall costs;
whilst affording a seamless timeline from the drawing board to site completion.
