Brass Architecture is a multi-disciplinary practice founded in 2016.
As an emerging architectural studio, we recognize the vast array of service providers available to clients. What sets us apart? Our distinct approach, innovative processes, and unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional results.
Our Mission: Impactful and Memorable Architecture
Born in the north of England, Brass Architecture was founded by a trio of designers who sought to challenge the inefficiencies of traditional architectural delivery. After years of working with esteemed practices, we set out to build something better—an agile, forward-thinking studio dedicated to efficiency, creativity, and quality.
What started as a series of word-of-mouth commissions in and around London has since grown into a dynamic, internationally recognized practice. Our expanding portfolio has taken us from the heart of the UK to overseas territories, shaping a global presence.

Our Founders
At Brass Architecture, we are dedicated to shaping a built environment that is both commercially intelligent and deeply responsive to its context.
Every project is a balance of creativity, precision, and purpose—designed to make a lasting impact and tailored to each client’s needs.
Brass Architecture is led by three founding directors, each with a global portfolio of notable projects and a well-rounded expertise spanning multiple architectural sectors. Their journey began at university, where they became friends before embarking on individual careers across different regions and specialisms. Years later, a shared vision brought them back together—a vision for a new kind of architecture practice that would challenge traditional industry models.
Drawing from their diverse backgrounds, they merged expertise with fresh thinking, crafting a design manifesto focused on disrupting the status quo—improving returns, services, efficiency, and value for clients.
Early projects became a testing ground for their innovative approach, and the results spoke for themselves. Today, their founding principles continue to guide every project we take on.
With a lineage of craftsmen, engineers, and educators, our directors have instilled a hands-on, technically informed approach into Brass Architecture’s DNA.
Ricky Sellars
Principal Director
As the face of Brass Architecture, Ricky is the primary point of contact for both existing and new clients.
With extensive experience across international markets and a portfolio of notable projects spanning every London borough, he brings a wealth of expertise to the practice.
Ricky has built a dynamic network of trusted collaborators, allowing Brass Architecture to scale teams and resources to suit each project’s unique needs.
His commercially astute approach ensures that every design remains not only ambitious but also affordable and deliverable post-approval. A firm believer in accessibility and collaboration, Ricky prides himself on being readily available to clients and partners.
Within the studio, he actively fosters open debate across all office locations, rejecting rigid hierarchies in favor of a meritocratic approach—where the best ideas win, regardless of origin.
Passionate about the next generation of architects, Ricky is deeply involved in mentoring young designers, guiding them from graduation through to full professional qualification.
John Paul Buckingham
Principal Director
As head of design delivery, John ensures that every project is meticulously coordinated from the outset, integrating cutting-edge BIM technologies across all stages.
A firm advocate for 3D-led workflows, John believes that investing in precise parametric modeling from the start leads to more efficient data extraction, streamlined technical design, and resource savings down the line—no matter the project’s scale or budget.
Splitting his time between London and our EU office in France, John plays a key role in expanding Brass Architecture’s international portfolio. His expertise in heritage and adaptive reuse is evident in his notable projects across the South of France, where he has led the transformation of medieval structures, agricultural buildings, townhouses, and former industrial spaces into high-end residences, hospitality ventures, and commercial enterprises.
With a strong background in negotiating with Local Planning Authorities (LPA's), John ensures that every project aligns with both client ambitions and stakeholder requirements, securing the necessary approvals while preserving design integrity.
A meticulous strategist with an eye for design precision and efficiency, John is committed to delivering exceptional architecture with a future-proofed approach.
Oliver Seddon
Principal Director
Oliver plays a key role in bringing our designs to life, overseeing all active on-site projects from concept to completion. His expertise ensures a seamless transition from the drawing board to real-world execution, balancing:

- Procurement & programme milestones
With a contemporary design sensibility, Oliver’s work is influenced by global inspiration and interdisciplinary design. He is committed to ensuring that every Brass Architecture project is unique, rejecting “copy-and-paste”design solutions in favor of original, site-specific concepts.
Oliver specializes in one-off, high-impact designs, working with a diverse range of clients, including vacation operators, faith groups & cultural institutions, leisure & hospitality brands and fashion designers & creative industries.
With an inventive eye and a passion for bespoke architectural solutions, Oliver ensures that every project is as distinctive as the people and places it serves.
