Marsden Centre. Town Centre Rejuvenation Proposals.
What did we do?
Brass Architecture have reviewed a prominent site in Marsden, West Yorkshire.
Our works in line with LPA directives and the award of Government Levelling Up Funds.
The proposal is simple; redevelop the prominent mill complex location (adding valuable residential and commercial returns) whilst returning a community jewel back to the locals; coined as ‘Marsden Market Hall’.
The market hall, allows for SME intermittent use and allows for key social gatherings, hosting annual events such as the revered jazz festival and a destination point for the weekly ‘ale trail’.
The venue affords the talented local eateries a place to trade - showcasing their award-winning produce.

Our vision was simple, to fully overhaul the space – removing a dilapidated and unsafe ‘weavers shed’ replaced with a statement architectural insertion - Marsden Market Hall; with massing and aesthetics derived from the local context (canal side location/ proximity to waterways).
Aesthetics are light and contemporary, whilst respectful of the local vernacular.
The architecture allows users to flexibly utilise the space for varying work purposes.
Parking addressed for the immediate central ‘town location’.
We believe Levelling Up Funds should serve the interests of the local community. Not simply, release funds to aid developer interests.
Our provisional proposals seeks to benefit the community it serves; whilst achieving developer interests.
Our view is simple, 'added value' highlighted; primarily, for the community it serves.

A new West Yorkshire housing district.
Appraising a recent consent that has opportunities for improvement.
Brass Architecture upon opening our West Yorkshire office location were invited to review the portfolio of a prominent local developer. Their current portfolio includes a newly consented housing scheme for a large rural site located in Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire. Our team undertook full appraisal of the application site, providing the developer key return commentary and suggested design amendments to improve overall returns. We look forward to growing our local relationships in the new future.
