Former Curzon Cinema, Manchester. A New Future!

Urmston, Greater Manchester, UK

What did we do?

Future proofing a community institution!

The comprehensive remodel of a public building asset.

Brass Architecture are appointed to deliver where others have failed! A building asset with huge potential but a track record of objections and refusals to upgrade.

Our proposals are a fresh perspective on returns re-focussed towards community returns.

Recent applications filed for the complete overhaul of the application site (by others) to full residential use were widely objected against (community) and in turn refused (planning department).

Brass Architecture are experienced in taking on such projects; in which an owner is at a loss what to do with a failing asset.

Our client, recently purchased the site and has alternate plans (client brief) for the site. This includes the full refurbishment of facades and infrastructure as required, with usage class retained/ changed to suit client brief intent.

Brass Architecture will act as lead consultant to deliver the required schematics.

Primary works include façade refurbishment, interior design upgrades and overhaul to return a property akin to existing use (for congregation, performance etc).

Our schematics look at retention (and widening) of existing use class returning the space for wider community use inclusive of café/ bar, auditoriums (for multi-use), among other uses.

A range of rental initiatives are mooted including studios (art, music, flexible office usage) alongside auditorium spaces for large scale functions.

We strongly believe the refurbishment of this treasured asset will act as a catalyst for wider location upgrades.

Marsden, West Yorkshire, UK

Community Led Architecture.

Evaluating best use of valuable Levelling Up Funds.

Brass Architecture reviewed a prominent site in Marsden, West Yorkshire. Our works formulated in line with LPA directives and the award of Government Levelling Up Funds.

We challenge the objectives of provisional proposals (prepared by others); to demolish the historic treasured warehouse infrastructure, replaced with (in our opinion) uninspiring industrial work units.

We believe Marsden deserves better!
